What some parents have said
America’s
Phonics was the magic key that unlocked my son’s ability to read. The program
far exceeded my wildest hopes and expectations. I watched my son change from a
child that hated books into an eager “bookworm” that reads for pleasure and
always carries a book wherever he goes. I am so thankful for America’s
Phonics. The program made it possible for my son to be successful in all areas
of school, both now and in the future.
America’s
Phonics has many levels of accessibility. It uses words that strike our son as
relevant and meaningful. Another “hook” for him is coding. As presented by
America’s Phonics, coding makes sense to him and has allowed his vocabulary to
be dramatically broadened. Above all, America’s Phonics works because he
thinks it’s fun.
We
are so very pleased with the progress our child has made in America’s Phonics.
She has increased her scores a full four years in two years. She is very
confident about her reading and really enjoys it now.
The
America's Phonics program has taken my daughter’s inborn love and ability for
reading to heights far beyond my expectations. I very seldom find her without
her nose in a book, and the speed at which she reads them makes it difficult to
keep up with new books for her!! When she encounters a word she doesn't know
while reading she is not hesitant to ask its meaning or research it - an
attribute I credit the America's Phonics program with. Her spelling ability is
outstanding - she learns to spell new words quickly and is able to deduce the
spelling of words with ease using the rules she has learned in the America’s
Phonics program.
Our
son, Chris, was first tested by Highland Academy to initiate his participation
in Highland’s new phonics program in February nineteen ninety-four.
At that time, Chris could just barely read on the beginning 2nd grade
level. His progress in reading
capability was astounding. In
fifteen months he improved four and one-half years and now, after less than two
years, he is reading on and beyond the eighth grade level.
This is marvelous, considering Chris is in the fourth grade. We attribute
a large part of this great success to the phonics program and its use of the
computer. More than anything else, the effect of the increased ability to read
and comprehend has transformed Chris from a brooding and intellectually insecure
child to a happy, well read and confidant young ten year old.
He enjoys reading and has the vocabulary of an older child. His other studies have improved because he can read and
understand the instructions.
