A major advantage of America's Phonics over any other serious phonics oriented language program is that all the technicalities of phonetic coding and the precision needed to producethe sounds is provided by the program. Phonetic coding is presented in the hard copy materials and at the computer, and the computer provides hi-fidelity human voiced sounds for all symbols and words. This represents a huge benefit to teachers in that all that needs to be learned are a few special things about program administration and class organization. For purposes of emphasis, a teacher of America's Phonics is provided with the following:
America’s
Phonics has been found to be suitable for a variety of teachers. Teachers
may be State Certified Elementary Teachers, Certified Language Therapists
or they might be parents in a home school environment. America’s Phonics
can be taught by following the lessons and the exercises as they are
provided. The use of outside material is discouraged based on the belief
that the most expedient route to gaining skills in language is to stay
focused on the progression of this curriculum. Both the teacher and the students have ready reference on language technicalities always at hand. Someone new to phonics can learn while teaching without being placed in a compromising situation. A teacher can rely on the materials of this curriculum to provide the structure for class activities and “lesson planning” should not be needed. America’s Phonics provides basic instruction in English for elementary level students and the requirements in the exercises can be followed easily. In the higher levels of America’s Phonics there are exercises in English expression in which pre-existing competence in English would be an asset for a teacher America's Phonics has proven to produce exceptional results for time invested. However, the mastery of the English language is a lifetime challenge for most of us and the authors do not suggest that achievement will come without effort and discipline.
